Workplace / Office Sites

The CSA program is easy to use and has a low impact on your workplace/office requiring a small amount of space and the amount of employee time spent is up to you.  We have several different examples of successful implementations of our service in both private and public office settings.  So what actually happens?

Workplaces/offices need to first figure out a space for us to use to drop orders for employees.  Ideally, this space will be as close to the entrance that we will need to use.  Some places prefer to have us make deliveries to a loading dock and have someone from their office take the delivery inside to the designated place.  Others, provide us with a place to temporarily park our truck and ask us to bring the orders inside their building to a designated location.  We can work with you to figure out the best solution for your employees and for our employees.

Next, there needs to be at least one point person who can help us provide the best customer service and keep tabs on the drop site experience.  This person typically facilitates internal communications about the service, passes information between KYF and employees, checks the drop to make sure all orders are picked up, and handles any missed pickups.  While this may seem time consuming, it really only takes minutes each week after the deliveries start.  We encourage more involvement from employees but understand there are time constraints at some workplaces.

The minimum number of shares at workplaces/offices each week is 15.  We cannot start delivering until we reach this minimum.  So, when you have a location and a point person, we create a “waiting list” for your physical location and employees sign up for the waiting list.  When the minimum is reached, we begin deliveries.  If the shares fall below the minimum, we notify the point person and ask them to make another push internally to get signups or renewals.  IF the minimum cannot be reached within two weeks, we will suspend deliveries (make the site a waiting list again) until the minimum can be reached.  Food storage is the responsibility of participating employees.  We encourage refrigeration/freezer space if possible.  However, coolers work just fine as well.

We are available for conference calls, lunch-and-learn meetings, regular meetings, and wellness/employee health fairs to help promote the concept of eating healthy and supporting local farms.  If you have interest in being a new drop site, please fill out the drop site application.

Churches / Small Business

The CSA program is easy to use and has a low impact on your church or small business, requiring a small amount of space and the amount of volunteer/employee time spent is up to you.  We have a really great incentive program to help you benefit from supporting local farmers.  So what actually happens?

You need to first figure out a space for us to use to drop orders for CSA members.  Ideally, this space will be as close to the entrance that we will need to use. We can work with you to figure out the best solution for your location and for our employees.  The ideal location will be indoors and not exposed to extreme temperatures.  Food storage locations (kitchen walk-ins) are the most ideal but not required.  However, any refrigeration/freezer access is highly recommended.  Food storage will be the members’ responsibility.

Next, there needs to be at least one point person who can help us provide the best customer service and keep tabs on the drop site experience.  This person typically facilitates internal communications about the service, passes information between KYF and members/clients, checks the drop to make sure all orders are picked up, and handles any missed pickups.  While this may seem time consuming, it really only takes minutes each week after the deliveries start.  We encourage more involvement from volunteers/members/employees, but understand there are time constraints at some locations.  We highly recommend using volunteers at locations that have access to potential service-oriented members.  Building community around this service is critical to the success of the program.

The minimum number of shares at workplaces/offices each week is 10.  We cannot start delivering until we reach this minimum.  So, when you have a location and a point person, we create a “waiting list” for your physical location and interested parties can sign up for the waiting list.

One key difference for churches and small businesses is that they qualify for our incentive program.  We will contribute $1 per share per week to the organization or small business for every share over the minimum share requirement in unrestricted funds.  Fundraising contributions are given on a monthly basis after we review the previous month’s deliveries to each location.  We encourage these sites to use our service as a tool to add to your fundraising efforts.  If your location/organization would prefer not to receive money directly, we can give the equivalent in store credits to be used to purchase food on our online store.   If you are not sure if you are considered a fundraising site, please see our drop site descriptions.

We are available for conference calls, lunch-and-learn meetings, regular meetings, and wellness/ health fairs to help promote the concept of eating healthy and supporting local farms.  If you have interest in being a new drop site, please fill out the drop site application.  We encourage donation drop sites to utilize their membership and client databases to promote the service.  Internal bulletins, social media, and newsletters are effective ways to spread the word.

Public

The CSA program is easy to use and can be as simple as picking the closest public location and signing up.   So what actually happens?

We have so many public locations that one is bound to work for you.  All you need to do is find the one that works for you and signup.  If you do not see one, then we need your help to get one that will work for you.  Let us know if you are interested in becoming an area coordinator for your neighborhood/area.  Or, you could put us in touch with your workplace HR/wellness decision makers, or your church leaders.

When you sign up for the CSA, you agree to pick up your share each week.  Please review the FAQ on the CSA and the policies page on the CSA signup site.

We always need help spreading the word about Know Your Farms and what we are doing.  Please help us by telling your friends, coworkers, and anyone who might be interested in supporting local farms about us.
